I’ll take every improvement in workflow that helps us improve the patient experience. Google AI is a foundational part of that.

“I’m a connector at heart,” says David Edelman, the founder of Thrivable, a startup that gathers patient insights for healthcare organizations. His ability to bring people together became clear in the early 2000s, when he was helping a friend navigate a recent diabetes diagnosis. “We quickly found there wasn’t a great place for tapping into communal wisdom,” David recalls. “So we built an online community, Diabetes Daily.” That forum eventually grew to reach two million people each month, and taught David about the gap between healthcare organizations and the people they serve. He launched Thrivable in 2019 to close that gap; they now have over 100,000 engaged patients on their platform who choose to share their feedback with companies addressing everything from diabetes to sleep apnea, leading to solutions patients need.
As CEO, David points out, “The less time I spend doing research or creating a spreadsheet, the more time I have for crucial conversations with customers, patients, and my team.” After a brainstorming session, he uses Gemini to convert the discussions into a one-pager to share with the team. Gemini also helps him refine communications and simplify complex concepts into language that’s easy for people to follow. David uses Gemini Deep Research to identify areas to explore and for market sizing and contracting. “I’m getting more information in a more structured way, along with layers of problem-solving that really level up my thinking,” he says. When the material gets dry, like a recent training on contracting processes, he drops it into NotebookLM, which creates an engaging podcast for the team to listen to. To prepare for board meetings, he uploads notes and decks into the tool to synthesize and plan his communication. “I’ll take every improvement in workflow that helps us improve the patient experience,” David says. “Google AI is a foundational part of that.”
